The physics-based animation software Cascadeur has been updated to version 2026.1, bringing significant improvements to workflow along with a major rendering overhaul.

This release completes the migration to the new Filament Rendering Engine, which was previously available as an experimental preview in version 2025.3. Nekki, the company behind Cascadeur, states that this change provides a significant improvement in viewport quality while offering users a more advanced visual environment during animation work.

Cascadeur Feature Highlights 2026.1

The new Unreal Engine Live Link is also a highlight feature of this release, allowing users to stream animations directly from Cascadeur into Unreal Engine in real time. This makes it easier to preview motion within Unreal Engine scenes, evaluate timing and staging in context, and iterate more quickly without repeated manual exports.

Another significant new feature is the Root Motion Tool, which introduces an AI-assisted approach to motion style transfer. The feature uses a diffusion model to analyze motion signatures from reference animations and apply their movement characteristics to new animation clips.

The update also includes improvements aimed at addressing common challenges in complex animation workflows. One such addition is the Collision Penetration Cleaning tool, designed to resolve issues with unwanted body intersections, such as hands clipping through the body. This helps reduce cleanup time and makes it easier to refine animations without significantly altering the original motion.

Another improvement is the integration of point constraints into Cascadeur’s physics engine. This allows objects such as weapons, props, or tools to remain locked to a character’s hand during AutoPhysics and Ragdoll simulations, improving reliability in physically assisted animation workflows where consistent object relationships are required.

Additional updates include enhanced AutoPosing for four-legged animals and creatures, the ability to add light sources to scenes, the introduction of Quick Rigging Tool templates for meshy.ai and Auto Rig Pro, along with various other fixes and improvements.
