The world's largest game creation event is happening once again, bringing people and communities all over the world together to make games in 48 hours!

For many this presents a great opportunity to try and create their very first game. It can also be a way to experience working alongside professionals and enthusiasts with a variety of skillsets.
For long timers this event marks the reunion of friends and colleagues for another round of against the clock game development.

Everyone is welcome at the Global Game Jam (GGJ)! In the attending public you'll find all kinds of people, be them artists, level designers, programmers, musicians, writers, voice actors and more. The attendants game making experience goes from industry veterans to the curious.

Find a location near you that is hosting the jam and join the event! While you are at it, make sure to also register for a GGJ user account. This will make you able to submit your game and/or be a part of a game's team.
The GGJ runs between 30 January and 5 February with jam sites having their own schedule within the jam's timeframe.

Like most game jams, games developed at the GGJ revolve around a theme. This year's theme is: Roots!

As per usual this event sparks a plethora of challenges, deals, and prizes by jam's sponsors. The GGJ also features something by the name of "Diversifiers." In their words:

"Diversifiers are a great way to add more fun or a challenge to your jam. Sometimes they can be very helpful to limit your scope or refine your ideas. They are totally optional constraints you can choose to add to your GGJ game alongside the main focus of the theme. It can help your game stand out from the crowd, and you can choose up to 4 when you submit."

Below you'll find all the jam's important links. Good luck!
