Reallusion has released a new facial animation plugin named AccuFACE for their 3D animation software iClone. AccuFACE is an AI-powered facial tracker designed to deliver high-quality real-time facial animation.
Reallusion describes the tool as revolutionary, emphasizing that in the past, users would have needed expensive hardware or paid subscription fees to achieve such results. In contrast, AccuFACE makes top-tier facial mocap accessible to most users.
AccuFACE utilizes Nvidia RTX GPU-accelerated AI technology and is able to capture facial expressions from webcams, GoPros, or existing video files. It offers optimal tracking resolution at 720p and 30fps when used for real-time tracking using a webcam.
The tool includes various features for high-quality captures, including a user-friendly live calibration process to align the character's facial settings with those of the live performer. It also has a video mode calibration that scans for calibration frames in multiple video files.
In addition, AccuFACE provides a comprehensive toolkit to address common facial motion capture challenges. The toolkit includes tools for balancing expression intensity and fixing tracking issues, such as Strength Balancing, Smooth Filter, Anti-Interference, and Denoise.
Other important aspects include the ability to capture synchronized audio data and facial animation simultaneously, enabling the rapid generation of voice-synced animations using data from the webcam and microphone.
The tool also offers timecode-based full-frame animation recording, enabling the capture of up to 60fps of clean facial animation data without frame drops, regardless of computer performance.
Additionally, this plugin incorporates AccuLIPS, a new technology that allows for nuanced lips and tongue animation to create seamless talking or singing animations. AccuLIPS can extend its functionality to languages beyond English and can be enhanced with additional text scripts.
Furthermore, AccuFACE enables production studios to collaborate effortlessly with professional actors or voice talents globally. This liberates animation productivity from equipment dependencies and eliminates restrictions related to time or location.
The plugin can be acquired independently by existing users of iClone 8 or as part of a bundle. It requires a Windows-based system and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX series graphics card. Supported cards include Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX and higher-end models.
