Nevercenter has unveiled the 2025 versions of Silo and Milo, two versatile tools designed to streamline 3D workflows. Silo is a lightweight 3D modeler and UV mapper, featuring a robust toolset and an intuitive workflow that is easy to master. Milo, on the other hand, is an advanced real-time renderer and VR viewer powered by Unreal Engine. It is ideal for tasks like product shots, game asset visualization, architectural walkthroughs, portfolio rendering, and VR previews. Silo and Milo are both standalone tools, but they are designed to work seamlessly together.
Regarding Silo, the standout feature of this release is simplified UV creation, enabling users to generate UVs directly via viewport projection. This method, which projects UVs based on the current viewport view, works in both perspective and orthogonal camera views. Additionally, this feature can be used with selected parts of the model, rather than just the entire model.
In this update, Milo has been enhanced to improve interoperability with Silo by adding support for modifiers. Now, when saving a Silo file and loading it in Milo, the modifiers are transferred as well. This allows users to view and render models in Milo without needing to bake the modifiers in Silo first.
The 2025 release also includes various bug fixes for both applications. Silo includes fixes for issues related to viewport zooming and frame selection, as well as a fix for a problem where materials were not properly applied to some faces when adding bevels. Milo has received a fix for an issue where wireframes were not displaying correctly upon object reload.
In addition to updates to their 3D tools, Nevercenter has recently updated Pixelmash, a tool designed for pixel art and sprite animation. Pixelmash enables users to combine high-resolution vector-based layers with low-resolution per-pixel layers for versatile workflows.
The latest update introduces support for copy and paste with area selection tools, including the ability to copy rendered pixels from vector layers. It also adds support for copying and pasting from and to the system clipboard, facilitating multi-application workflows. Furthermore, the update includes the ability to adjust the grid alpha, along with several bug fixes.
All of these applications are compatible with Windows and macOS, with free trials available. Milo is currently being offered for free with the purchase of Silo.
