Cinema 4D, the professional 3D modeling, animation, simulation and rendering software developed by Maxon has been updated.
Some highlights of this new version include performance improvements, enhanced Rigid Body Simulations and brand-new features for Pyro, a simulation tool designed to easily create fire, smoke and explosions within Cinema 4D.
Let's take a closer look at what's new in this release:
Performance
Cinema 4D 2024 got a significant speed boost, making it more than twice as fast as previous versions. Responsible for this improvement is Maxon's brand-new core, engineered to optimize both speed and overall performance.
Rigid Body Simulations
Rigid Body Simulations have been added to Cinema 4D's Unified Simulation System. Solid objects are now able to interact with all existing forces in the scene such as pyro, cloth and soft bodies.
Pyro
Pyro received an exciting new feature, enabling the emission of fire from particles and matrices. This empowers artists to craft cinematic scenes featuring elements such as fire, smoke trails, explosions or stunning fireworks illuminating the night sky.
Pyro now also provides artists with more precise controls, allowing them to meticulously direct their simulations and ensure they align with their creative vision.
Additionally, with UpRes, creatives can use a lower-resolution simulation for faster iteration during the development stage of a project. Afterwards, they have the option to render the simulation at its full quality when preparing the final output.
New vertex normal controls
The introduction of new vertex normal controls provides artists with exceptional precision over the adjustment of vertex and polygon normals to remove shading artifacts.
New modeling tools
Two modeling tools have been introduced that will make handling complex tasks easier: Select Pattern and Projection Deformer. The former allows artists to repeat a selection on the surface of the mesh with one click. The latter gives users quick control and lets them move points from one object to another in any direction.
Improved Node UI
The Node UI has undergone a comprehensive redesign. Beyond the enhancement of its visual appearance is the introduction of a Notes feature. This feature allows artists to add annotations within the Node Editor to document their nodal network.
The new version of Cinema 4D comes as part of the fall release of Maxon One. Maxon One is a bundle of applications that includes Cinema 4D, Forger, Red Giant, Redshift, Universe and ZBrush. This September release includes updates for nearly all Maxon products.
