JangaFX, the creators of EmberGen, a real-time fluid simulation software, have launched GeoGen, a highly anticipated terrain generation tool.
The software, initially announced in early December last year, is now available in alpha, and enables users to create 3D landscapes, terrains and planets in real-time.
JangaFX describes GeoGen as a fresh approach to terrain and planet generation, emphasizing that no other terrain editor on the market offers the ability to create planets with such ease.
The software's smooth and intuitive user interface, along with its modern node-based workflow, are also highlighted. Furthermore, it is designed with games in mind, featuring workflow enhancements and unique simulations for this purpose.
When it comes to terrain generation, GeoGen features a non-destructive workflow, allowing users to create terrains for virtually any geological formation.
It provides a wide array of sourcing nodes, modifiers, filters, and masks, offering precision control over terrains. All the parameters necessary for finely tuning elements, from noise to erosion, are also provided.
According to JangaFX, the GeoGen planet generation toolset was inspired by numerous space-oriented games and films. It was designed to allow users to transition from terrains to planets with just a few clicks.
This toolset includes features such as full atmospheric rendering support, twinkling stars in the background and a range of powerful nodes. Plans are currently in place for the continuous improvement of the planet creation featureset during the alpha phase.
The software can export multiple game-ready data types and textures, including meshes, texture masks, color maps, water planes and heightmaps.
GeoGen is now available for a free trial. To access it, visit the GeoGen page on the JangaFX website.
