ReSprytile is a Blender add-on that enables the creation of tile-based scenes directly within the software. It is a fork of the original add-on Sprytile, which was developed before Blender 2.8 and updated over time by various contributors to remain compatible with newer versions. This new fork by IonTheDev has been tested with Blender 4.1 and is expected to work across the 4.x releases.
The original add-on was inspired by observing an artist manually UV map tiles to create scenes in the style of Animal Crossing. This led to the prototyping of a 3DS Max script to streamline the process. After discovering Crocotile3D, a dedicated tile-based 3D modeling tool, and developing a preference for Blender, the focus shifted to bringing that workflow into Blender itself.

With ReSprytile users can build meshes directly with tiles, eliminating the need for manual UV mapping. Tiles can be quickly rotated and flipped, making layout adjustments fast and intuitive. For meshes created using Blender's native tools, textures can be applied efficiently using a simplified UV mapping process, reducing time spent in the UV editor. To support pixel-precise modeling, ReSprytile also includes tools for maintaining alignment to a pixel grid, allowing confident and accurate vertex movement.
Although no new learning resources appear to have been created since the original Sprytile era, existing written and video tutorials are still available and should largely apply to this fork, as ReSprytile currently seems to focus mainly on compatibility with newer Blender versions.
