Nanite Grass is a realistic grass asset for Unreal Engine, created by 3D environment artist Cloviren. It provides fully geometric grass for games and real-time rendering, without relying on alpha masks and it's optimized for Nanite (Unreal's virtualized geometry system). The asset includes an array of features and allows seamless interaction with characters and other objects.

Among these features are five base grass heights, along with options for dead grass and bushes. The grass color is fully customizable, allowing you to adjust the color of the entire leaf or specific parts like the body, edges, stem, top, and bottom.

Nanite Grass also includes a lightweight yet powerful wind system that uses a vertex color mask. The wind can be controlled globally, with adjustable speed and direction, causing the grass to bend naturally with the wind. Additionally, the system supports wind gusts with customizable color and brightness, and allows you to use your own image to create unique wind patterns.

Despite an already extensive feature set, Nanite Grass has recently been updated to version 3, now allowing for denser grass generation without impacting performance and ensuring full visibility at a distance. Additional improvements include Subsurface Scattering, refined roughness and specular effects, enhanced grass lighting, and greater overall stability. The wind system has also been improved, with grass movement now appearing more grounded and less deformed, along with adjustable breeze intervals to reduce wind frequency.

The asset is compatible with Unreal Engine 5.1 and later and includes a demo scene from the showcase video. It is available for purchase on Epic Games' new Fab platform as Nanite Foliage - Grass.
